# BambooHR integrations

*4 integrations*

**In short:** Integrating BambooHR usually means getting hires into it from an applicant tracking system, keeping it aligned with another HRIS, or feeding a global Workday from it. What breaks is its data model: list values that must already exist, job and compensation stored as effective-dated history rows, a supervisor field that points at another employee ID, and no shared key with the systems around it.

## What connects to BambooHR

BambooHR is the HRIS for many small and mid-sized companies, including DACH teams inside international groups. It holds employee records, job and compensation history, time off and the reporting line, which puts it in the middle of the people stack.

Upstream, recruiting tools hand over accepted hires. [Greenhouse](https://seamless.engineering/integrations/greenhouse-bamboohr/) and [Workable](https://seamless.engineering/integrations/workable-bamboohr/) create a ready-to-onboard employee with job information, compensation and start date, so nobody re-keys an offer. Sideways, companies running BambooHR next to [HiBob](https://seamless.engineering/integrations/hibob-bamboohr/) keep people data, job history and time off aligned between the two. Downstream, a group with a global HCM turns BambooHR changes into effective-dated staffing events in [Workday](https://seamless.engineering/integrations/bamboohr-workday/) instead of field overwrites.

## Where BambooHR integrations break

- **List values must pre-exist.** Department, Division, Location and Employment Status are managed lists. A value like "Sales - DACH" has to resolve to an existing entry, or the write fails or creates a junk value that pollutes every report.
- **History is rows, not fields.** Job Information and Compensation are effective-dated tables. Flatten a promotion to today and the audit trail is gone; post the same row twice and reports double-count it.
- **Compensation is structured.** A pay change is a rate, a pay type, a pay period, a currency and an effective date, not one number copied from an offer field.
- **The supervisor is an employee ID.** A reporting line points at another BambooHR employee, so a new manager has to exist before their reports can be linked to them.
- **No shared key.** BambooHR's numeric employee ID means nothing elsewhere, and candidates apply with personal email addresses. Without a stored mapping, a retried webhook or a rehire creates a second employee.
